Over 800 Books Contributed to Children's Book Drive

Brockton, MA, June 16, 2010
– This spring Crescent Credit Union collected over 800 books during their annual Children’s Book Drive. Working with the Massachusetts Credit Union League, the books were distributed by the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless to a number of local non-profit agencies.

“Books are important tools in fostering a child’s intellectual growth and love for education,” said Crescent Credit Union President Robert Gustafson. “Unfortunately, many children do not have access to the books they need to develop an interest in reading. Together we collected over eight hundred books for these children, which is an exceptional accomplishment,” he added. “Everyone involved deserves a great deal of thanks.”

Jim Ouellette, Vice President of Branch Administration at Crescent Credit Union, coordinated the effort. He spoke of the success of this year’s drive, saying, “Children of all ages from infants to teens will benefit. The overwhelming expressions of appreciation and excitement when the books were delivered was just wonderful!”

Mr. Ouellette went on to say, “We enjoy participating in this annual event sponsored by the Massachusetts Credit Union League and look forward to doing it again next year.”
